Artist Creates Stunning Paintings Using House Paint

When looking at Cassandra Tondro’s stunning, contemporary abstract paintings, one would never imagine that her medium of choice is repurposed acrylic house paint rescued from local recycling centers near her home in Santa Monica, California. Incorrectly tinted paints purchased at home improvement stores are added to the inventory and provide her with a most unusual pallet of colors and finishes. Cassandra states, “It took me many years to develop and perfect the techniques that I use when working with latex paint. Latex is very different from oils and acrylics, and required a whole new painting process.” Tondra embraces the challenge of “working with the colors that I find, rather than colors of my choice. Once a color is gone, it is unlikely that I will find the exact same color again.”

True to her deep commitment to the environment, this talented artist is clearly making a statement while making an impact with her nature-inspired collection.

I think her paintings are beautiful and love how she combines the colors from old paint to create such beautiful art.
