What does “repurpose” mean? And, what does it have to do with art?

There are many different words that help to describe what it means to repurpose. Upcycle, reinvent, recreate, reimagine, recycle – are but a few more widely used terms. Simply put, repurpose means to modify an item for a new use or use an item in a new way.

Reinventing ordinary items and materials into beautiful works of art is a bit more challenging. Marcel Duchamp and Andy Warhol were early influencers in the way their works regarded everyday objects. With the green movement seeping into the mainstream, more and more artists are using recycled and reclaimed items and materials to make statements of sustainability and beauty.

ArtfullyReimagined.com celebrates the outstanding artists working in the field of repurposing, and we are always looking for new artists who breathe life into items or objects that might otherwised be tossed.
